Arctic Monkeys: “Humbug”

After a hiatus that saw main Monkey Alex Turner’s side project the Last Shadow Puppets’ debut go in at Number One on the British charts, Sheffield, England’s Arctic Monkeys return with a much more mature third album that confirms 23-year-old Turner is a national treasure on the level of Noel Gallagher. Produced by Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme, Humbug still finds the Monkeys’ tunes upbeat and fun, though less catchy and silly. And along with more sophisticated lyrics, the lads have hit a more elevated level of songwriting, with intricate guitars and gorgeous melodies.
