Building A Legal Case With Legos

Europe’s second-highest court, the Court of First Instance, has deconstructed a legal claim from Lego, the toy block manufacturer. Lego was attempting to secure a trademark for the shape of its interlocking bricks.

Mega Brands, which makes Mega Bloks, protested, saying that those little teeth are needed to make their own toy work.

The court agreed, leaving the Office for Harmonization in the International Market free to reject Lego’s efforts.
