Back in March, I reported on the controversial Vogue cover featuring NBA star LeBron James, which had some African Americans up in arms for its perceived racism. It probably wouldn’t have been as much of an issue if Vogue didn’t already have such a bad reputation for the dearth of black models in editorial spreads. (Let’s not even mention the unflattering cover of singer/actress Jennifer Hudson). Fortunately, the Italians have come to the rescue: Italian Vogue‘s all-black July issue, shot by Steven Meisel, is flying off the shelves.
