Enterprising New Yorkers Make Most of Disaster, Loot Penthouse

After a massive crane demolished their $3,900-a-month East Side penthouse (a steal!), thieves help themselves to $80,000 worth of gear. Stolen from a pair of roommates, both of whom work for fashion companies, were a pair of Macbook Pros, a digital camera, and family heirlooms including a diamond sapphire necklace and an Audemars Piguet watch. Okay, so they weren’t exactly boosted for food stamps. But, seriously, looting in the chaotic moments of a massive freak accident: It’s called gumption.
