Lewandowski is trying to get back on Trump's good side, according to sources.

"Corey is looking for ways to get back in good with President Trump," one Republican strategist claimed to the New York Post. Lewandowski turned heads after calling out Senate Majority Leader John Thune of South Dakota, with many suggesting he was hinting at "challenging" the politician.

He told conservative podcaster John Fredericks in June, "John Thune, who happens to be up for re-election – not this November but two years from now – is very susceptible to a very serious Republican primary challenge."

"The American people will be looking at someone who has a proven history of winning an election in South Dakota to maybe challenge John Thune,” Lewandowski added at the time.

Thune has left Trump and MAGA supporters raging, as he has continued to note there are not enough votes to pass the president's much-pushed SAVE America Act.

Corey Lewandowski: 'Shadow Secretary'

Lewandowski left the Department of Homeland Security after Trump fired his rumored lover, Noem.

The act would require people to provide ID and proof of citizenship to vote. However, in response to the new report, Lewandowski explained his comments had nothing to do with his political aspirations.

"President Trump carried the state of South Dakota by nearly 30 points. The people of that state overwhelmingly support his agenda for America,” he noted. "No politician is immune to the will of the voters."

Lewandowski then called out Thune again directly, and warned, "I would encourage every incumbent senator to achieve this objective.”

During his time at the DHS, Lewandowski was reportedly labeled "shadow secretary" among employees for his intense behavior and influence. According to a previous New York Times report, Lewandowski would keep an eye on all the employees and would go up and down the DHS corridors checking nameplates on empty desks.

The 52-year-old was a special adviser to Noem, but reportedly led a 'reign of terror.'

"Terrified" employees would do all they could to prove they were at work, even reportedly leaving Post-it notes with explanations reading, "In a meeting. In the restroom."

Lewandowski was also accused of terrorizing staff with his "quick temper." Sources described his tenure as a "reign of terror" and claimed he "tightly controlled department operations, building a reputation for abruptly firing staff and instilling fear among fellow Trump aides."

He also allegedly bragged he could "do whatever" he wanted while working in government because the president had his back.

"I'm not worried. I do whatever the f--- I want. DJT will pardon me," Lewandowski reportedly told a source at the NYP in 2025, allegations he has since shut down.

Noem and Lewandowski have shut down rumors they're in a romantic relationship.

Lewandowski left the department soon after Noem was fired by Trump on March 5, after a chaotic 14 months as the Secretary of Homeland Security, which included spending $220million on an ad campaign.

Noem also shocked critics after calling Renee Nicole Good a "domestic terrorist" just an hour after she was shot to death by ICE. At the time, a former senior ICE Officer claimed the 54-year-old's response sent a message to his fellow agents that they could "push the limits."

And while Lewandowski and Noem have stayed away from the spotlight since her termination, they were spotted biking around Lake Minnetonka in the Minneapolis suburb of Wayzata, despite both previously claiming they are not in a romantic relationship.

The sighting came just weeks after Noem's mother, Corinne Arnold, claimed her daughter was filing for a divorce following husband Bryon's cross-dressing scandal.
