When Joan Rivers passed away suddenly in September 2014, the world of Fashion Police would change forever. According to the New York City medical examiner spokeswoman, the manner of death was linked to a "therapeutic complication," which caused brain damage and eventually, her passing.

As a result, Fashion Police went on hiatus, scurrying to find a solution to their future as New York Fashion Week ensued without the legendary show.

Then there was hope! More than two months after Rivers' shocking death, E! finally chose Kathy Griffin as the replacement host of Fashion Police.

But it wasn't all fun and games when Griffin signed on. According to reports, host's "ridiculously high salary" had co-host Kelly Osbourne in a tizzy and served as the launch of their sour relationship.

To make matters worse, Griffin's debut didn't go exactly as planned, with viewers criticizing the redhead's performance more harshly than the show's fashion flops.

As things changed for the show, they also changed for the veteran show hosts. Tension reportedly rose between FP alum Giuliana Rancic and Osbourne as the new season progressed.
But then of course, things really changed after Rancic made offensive comments regarding Disney star Zendaya Coleman's dreadlocks, saying: "I feel like she smells like patchouli oil…or maybe weed."

Zendaya soon fired back, sharing a long response on racial slurs and stereotypes via Twitter that put Rancic in her place to say the least.

But Zendaya wasn't the only one to rant on Twitter. Soon after, Osbourne made her opinion known, issuing an ultimatum to Rancic and the show that if they didn't "make things right" in 24 hours, she would leave the show.
Rancic soon apologized to Zendaya, both on Twitter and in an official segment on E!.

In the wake of Rancic's apology, Osbourne announced she would be leaving the show, indicating that she had quit.

But reports soon circulated suggesting that Osbourne would have been fired regardless. "We are told she was given the option to quit or be fired," a network insider reveals.

In an interview with the Chicago Sun-Times Splash magazine, Griffin was asked if she thought there would have been such a scandal if she had made the quip instead of Rancic. "Probably not," Griffin answered, before adding, "but I wouldn't have said the joke in the first place." Ouch! Guess she's not siding with Rancic.

Only seven episodes in to her run as the newest host of Fashion Police, Griffin abruptly quit Thursday night, announcing her departure on Twitter.
