Friends of troubled comedian Andy Dick intervened last week by placing the notorious drunk in a treatment center in an effort to help him, RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned, but he didn't want help and almost immediately left.

According to a close pal, friends and family of the 47-year-old are gravely worried about him and attempted an intervention of sorts to get him back on the path to sobriety.

"Andy's friends are desperate to save him so they put him in a treatment center last week," the insider revealed.

"But he left almost right away and you can't keep somebody there who doesn't want to be there."

The source tells RadarOnline.com that Andy's friends are doing everything they can, but their concern for him grows daily.

"All we know is it's not good. It's really not good," the source said.

"He's on a downward spiral that is so intense it could be his last, and his friends are just at a loss for what they can do. They don't want to see him end up in an early grave."

RadarOnline.com obtained exclusive video of Andy urinating on a public sidewalk last month, and the shocking footage isn’t the first time Andy’s been caught doing scandalous things in public — in mid-July photos popped of Andy “incredibly intoxicated” while in the Hamptons, in 2011 RadarOnline.com obtained exclusive photos of him doing lines of cocaine, in 2010 he flashed his genitals while at a July 4 house party and again made his privates public just three months later.

“Andy’s a bit of a lost soul and when he starts acting out in public like that, he’s in real trouble,” the insider revealed.

“He needs help.”
