Former Cincinnati Bengals cheerleader Sarah Jones, who was convicted for having sex with an underage student, was back in court Tuesday as part of her defamation lawsuit against TheDirty.com and its founder, Nik Richie, but what seemed to most shock the jury during opening statements was not what the website wrote about her - but what she wrote to her very young lover!
"The defense read out various compromising text messages between Sarah and Cody York, and in one particularly damning one Sarah told Cody she had been in love with him since he was 14 years old," an eye witness in the Covington, Kentucky courtroom tells RadarOnline.com in an exclusive interview.
"I think the jury was shocked by that!" The source says. "It is a confusing trial to get your head around, because she is asking for $11 million for 'lewd comments' that were made about her, but at the same time she was convicted for having sex with a teenage boy, and is a felon."
As RadarOnline.com previously reported, the 27-year-old from Covington, Kentucky, was convicted three months ago of having sex with a student who at the time was 17, and is now suing the Scottsdale, Arizona-based website and Richie, claiming defamation and invasion of privacy.
While the judge didn't allow the sexual aspects of their raunchy affair to be read out in court, the jury did hear how the ex-English teacher promised her student lover expensive rewards if she won the civil case against Richie.
"Other texts that were read out revealed how Sarah told Cody she was going to get all this money from Nik Richie and would buy him a Mercedes Benz, buy him a big house with a bowling alley and pink bowling balls," the court witness says.
