Savannah Guthrie's highly publicized stint as co-anchor of NBC's TODAY has continued to fall flat as early risers are still choosing to watch rival show Good Morning America instead.

Nielsen revealed that the ABC arch rival drew an average of 4.57 million viewers last week, beating out TODAY by 357,000 viewers, according to ratings released on Monday.

As RadarOnline.com previously reported, the 40-year-old journalist's new gig is continuing on the downward spiral that began by her losing half a million viewers from the 4.604 TODAY earned in former host Ann Curry's final week.

The poor showing suggests that fans of the show are not impressed by the permanent appointment of Guthrie in the seat next to Matt Lauer after she was brought in last month to replace ousted Curry.

Guthrie said of taking over: "This was a little unexpected, as we all know, but I just want to say that I'm so proud and honored to be in a place occupied by so many women I admire."

TODAY was the undisputed morning leader in the ratings since 1995 until this spring, when a resurgent GMA snapped its winning streak with several weeks on top.
