Kelly Clarkson has coped with public criticism over her weight issues ever since becoming the first American Idol winner in 2002 and now the 30-year-old singer has finally decided to do something about it.

She recently lost 30 pounds and, "She feels better about herself than she ever has," a source tells the new issue of Us Weekly, who adds that the Duets star is now just 10 pounds away from her ultimate goal weight.

And she's not the only one who loves her new sexy figure. The singer's boyfriend Brandon Blackstock, 35, approves of her changing look. "Brandon is the first guy to ever tell her how beautiful and sexy she is," a source says of the Nashville-based talent manager. "She wants to look good for him."

So what made Kelly want to drop the unwanted pounds? According to an insider, she decided to slim down for good after watching a recording of her December performance on VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul. "She saw how heavy she was and she didn't like it. That's when she decided to really get into shape."

And the two-time Grammy winner was seriously dedicated to shedding the weight. To get into shape, she stuck to a five-days-a-week training schedule and a portion-control diet. The 5-foot-4 singer lost the weight in just six months.
