Jimmy Kimmel remained laughing and unrepentant after infuriating Kanye West with a bit earlier this week that mocked the rapper’s pretentiousness and delusions of grandeur, leading to a loud and brash blowback from the A-list music-maker.
“Quick question: Did anyone else get a very angry phone call from Kanye West about an hour and a half ago? Just me? OK, I didn’t know if he was mad at all of us,” he said in his monologue Thursday.
On the call, Kimmel said Kanye intimidatingly tried to make him make amends over the perceived disrespect.
“He told me I had two choices: apologize publicly … and that was really the only choice! The other choice he gave was that my life … ‘Your life is going to be much better if you apologize,'” Kimmel said.
As we previously reported, the sketch — which cast a child to quote a Kanye interview with the BBC verbatim — led Kim Kardashian‘s baby daddy to make the talk show host the focus of a Twitter rant in which he called him, among other things, a “MANIPULATIVE MEDIA MUTHERF***ER”

Jimmy — who called the bit “pretty innocuous” and “a spoof” — said that during Kanye’s angry phone tirade, the mercurial superstar dubbed himself the “most powerful voice in media.”
“Finally I’m in a rap feud,” he said. “Right now we’re at Def-Kanye Five: Thanks, Kanye, appreciate it.”
An insider on Kimmel’s set explained to us the dynamic that led to the fire-starting bit.
“Well, we have been playing back clips from his interview in London in which he talks about how brilliant he is and cutting-edge and how he wants to anchor the worlds first trillion-dollar company. We then hired children to re-enact that interview.
Kimmel, in a tweet Thursday, reassured the suspicious show biz media the “not a prank,” as he and Kanye are not in cahoots for the priceless publicity the feud’s already generated.
