Kate Plus Fate! Gosselin’s Troubled Dating History & Secret Love Scandals Exposed
June 10 2019, Updated 12:18 p.m. ET
Kate Gosselin may be the perfect definition of “if at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.”
The 44-year-old mother of eight has had trouble for years finding love, leaving in her wake millionaires, bodyguards and of course a very public divorce with the father of her brood, Jon Gosselin.
But Kate refuses to give up the search for “the one.” And, of course, cameras will be following!
“If I’m going to date someone, I can’t just go out on a date — it’s creepy to me to think of just going out somewhere with some stranger, and so I actually feel like doing it like this is the best and safest way for me to go on a date — a camera crew will be there! I’ll be safe!” she told PEOPLE in 2018. “And the person will have been vetted by a matchmaker.”
Kate Plus Date follows her adventures as she looks for true love once more.
“I’m nervous, I’m excited, and I’m forcing myself to do this,” Kate admitted about the upcoming docu-series.
But what about all the men she’s loved before? Meet them in this RadarOnline.com gallery.
Jon & Kate Plus 2
Of course, it all started with Jon. The former IT Analyst-turned-Chili’s DJ met Kate Kreider at a company picnic on October 5, 1997. They married on June 12, 1999, and the following October, their twin daughters, Cara Nicole and Madelyn "Mady" Kate, were born.
Add 6 Babies
After undergoing fertility treatments, Kate gave birth to sextuplets: sons Aaden Jonathan, Collin Thomas, and Joel Kevin, and daughters Alexis Faith, Hannah Joy, and Leah Hope.
Too Much Reality?
The family’s famous reality show, Jon & Kate Plus 8 debuted in 2007, and offered an inside look at the challenges of raising such a large family. Often, the look would be a little too inside, and would reveal Kate’s domineering behavior toward her kids – and her husband.
Separation
On June 22, 2009, the couple announced on their show that they were separating. It didn’t take long for their divorce proceedings to get ugly. On August 13, 2009, the police were called to the Gosselin family home in Wernersville, Pennsylvania after the couple got into a screaming match when Kate disapproved of the babysitter Jon was using. No arrests were made and no charges were filed against either party.
Divorce
The divorce was finalized in December 2009. Hannah eventually went to live with her father, while Maddie and the rest of the sextuplets all moved on with mom.
Collin’s Fate
The two would go on to have a contentious relationship, finding themselves in court again over the fate of son Collin, whom Kate placed in an inpatient center to help him with his "special needs.”
Jon Vs. Kate
In December 2018, Jon won sole physical and legal custody of Collin, as Kate and her attorney failed to appear. The child now lives with his father and Hannah. That seemed to be the last straw for Kate, who reportedly no longer speaks to Jon, except through their attorneys.
Bodyguard Affair?
During their strained marriage and even long after, there were rumors and speculation that Kate was having an affair with her married bodyguard, Steve Neild.
Caught On Camera
Kate and Steve were often caught on camera either vacationing together or dining intimately, but neither side ever confirmed they were truly a thing.
Jon’s Suspicions
Jon was certainly unconvinced the two were just friends, revealing way back in 2009 “I speculate, but I don’t know — that’s a general feel. You know, almost like when they were traveling together, I felt jealous. Here I’m Mr. Mom. And then there’s some other guy traveling with my wife.”
The Millionaire
Most recently, Kate had a public relationship in 2015 with millionaire Dreamstime co-founder Jeff Prescott.
Kate Gets Dumped
Jeff, then 52, and Kate, then 40, dated for nearly nine months before the businessman dumped the reality star for a 26-year-old blonde.
Reality Bites
Months later, Jeff would admit to RadarOnline.com that he ended the relationship just two days before he was set to begin filming his then-girlfriend’s reality show, Kate Plus 8, in fear of becoming a public spectacle.
‘Chaos & Pressure’
“I decided that this sort of exposure could create a backlash in my professional and family life, and I just wasn’t ready this sort of attention,” the stock photo agency exec explained. “I wasn’t up for the chaos and pressure that would ensue.”
Jon Weighs In
Upon hearing the breakup news, Jon responded from his personal account with the classy “raising hands in celebration” emoji.
Thank You, Next
Kate is now hoping for a real reason to celebrate, as she tackles the dating world again, once more with cameras rolling, on her new reality show Kate Plus Date.
