In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, magazine writer and editor Jonathan Van Meter claimed that Hilton repeatedly canceled an interview for his authorized biography of Kardashian, Citizen Kim: The Woman Who Created the Future. The book was published on October 27.
"Late in the process, I told Kim I should talk to her. Kim checked and said Paris agreed, but I had to go through her publicist," Van Meter claimed. "That was unusual: With everybody else, Kim just sent a text. I sent questions, connected with Paris' assistant, and then the interview was canceled 17 times over about four months. Eventually, I thought the cancellations were more interesting than whatever she'd tell me."
The author said the SKIMS founder was "so mad" when he told her that it "seemed to stir up some ancient irritation between them. The creation turning on the creator."

Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian reignited feud rumors following the recent memoir interview snub.
Hilton and Kardashian have known each other since childhood, having grown up in wealthy Los Angeles social circles.
During a July 2025 episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast, Kathy Hilton explained how their family became friends with the Kardashian-Jenner clan before their reality TV days.
"Well, Kris (Jenner) and I were friends," she said, confirming they got connected "when the girls were little girls."
Kathy added, "We had done some charity things together, and so Caitlyn (Jenner), Kris, Rick (Hilton) and I — we would go on trips together and go to New York, Las Vegas … you name it. The four of us and a couple of other people would hang out, go down to the desert."
As the parents grew closer, so did their children.

Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian have known each other since childhood.
In a 2008 interview on TODAY, The Kardashians star confirmed she and Paris had been friends since they were kids.
Paris made similar remarks in an interview with Yahoo Style, sharing, "We've known each other since we were little girls, we've always been friends. It's nice to inspire people, so yeah, I'm really proud of her and what she's done though."
Their friendship first gained public attention when Kim appeared on Paris and Nicole Richie's reality TV series, The Simple Life. At the time, the SKKY Partners co-founder ran a closet-organizing business.

After years of friendship, Paris and Kim appeared to grow apart as the KKW Beauty founder's fame increased following the 2007 premiere of Keeping Up With the Kardashians.
Their reported falling out drew further attention when Paris made disparaging comments about Kim's appearance in a radio show interview in 2008.
"I would not want (Kim's backside). It's gross! It reminds me of cottage cheese inside a big trash bag," the 11:11 Media co-founder said.
Paris later apologized for her remarks, but Kim later acknowledged their friendship had changed.
"We don't really talk," Kim told Harper's Bazaar in 2011. "As I always say, everyone comes into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime. And she was in my life for a long time."
She further explained, "There comes a point in life where you just grow apart and realize you're not as similar as you thought. And I never run into her anywhere. Isn't that so weird?"
