San Jose Sharks’ star Evander Kane’s year continues to get worse after a judge ruled his sexual assault accuser can have her day in court immediately.
According to court documents obtained by Radar, a federal court judge signed off on Rachel Kuechle’s plea to let her lawsuit against Kane move forward. The suit was put on hold after the hockey star filed for bankruptcy earlier this year.
The Chapter 7 case put a pause on all legal actions involving Kane, including the one filed by Kuechle.
In her suit, the alleged victim accused Kane of assaulting her inside his hotel room. She said they met at a bar and hit it off. He invited her back to his home for a “party” that turned out to only be him.

She claims Kane attacked her while they were locked inside the room. She called his behavior “unwanted, unconsented to, violent, and offensive in nature physical battery.” He denies the allegations and the police never filed criminal charges.
The case was headed to trial right before Kane filed for bankruptcy. The alleged victim believes her damages exceed $3 million.
She agreed not to enforce any judgment she is awarded until the bankruptcy is figured out. The judge's decision means the case will resume in New York court immediately.
In Kane’s Chapter 7, he listed $10.2 million in assets with $26.8 million in debt. During his NFL career, he has been paid over $62 million.
This year Kane has been hit with divorce papers, hit with abuse claims by his ex-wife Anna, and accused of refusing to pay an ex $2 million over an alleged abortion deal. The ex Hope Parker claims he begged her to get the procedure to avoid the child hitting the press.
Kane has also been accused of betting on his games (which he was cleared of as part of an investigation) and lost his $2 million home in court.
