My 600-Lb Life surgeon Dr. Younan Nowzaradan was sued twice for medical malpractice. Now, RadarOnline.com can exclusively reveal the doctor from hell has been slapped with a third lawsuit after an alleged botched procedure!
In a lawsuit obtained from Harris County Court in Texas, a former patient sued Dr. Nowzaradan and St. Joseph Medical Center for personal injury on June 14, 2017.
The plaintiff, who RadarOnline.com has chosen to respect the privacy of, underwent an abdominoplasty and had an umbilical hernia removed on January 29, 2014.
The plaintiff said she had drainage tubes for six weeks after the surgery, but claimed they should have been removed within a week.
She was also instructed to wear a girdle for two weeks after the surgery, but still requires the use of a girdle two years after the procedure.
“The plaintiff no longer has a navel, as a result of the procedure,” the petition read. “The plaintiff’s abdomen is deformed. The plaintiff continues to have severe lower abdominal pain and has developed distention of the abdomen. The plaintiff experiences extreme pain in her abdomen that restricts normal movement.”
When the patient followed up with Dr. Nowzaradan, he allegedly “lacked professional concern, compassion or empathy.”
The patient explained how she must undergo surgery to correct the issues.
The plaintiff is asking for over $1 million in damages, claiming she suffered “physical pain and mental anguish."
In Dr. Nowzaradan’s response to her petition, he denied all allegations against him. He also requested a jury trial.
On January 31, 2018, Dr. Nowzaradan filed a motion to dismiss.
Then on February 5, 2018, the plaintiff filed a nonsuit without prejudice against the defendants, which is a request to dismiss the case.
As RadarOnline.com previously reported, Dr. Nowzaradan wassued for malpractice in 2012. A former patient claimed a 6.69 inch piece of tubing was left in the body after gastric sleeve surgery.
The plaintiff claimed the tubing was left in her body for 22 months before it was discovered.
“The tube punctured Mrs. Park’s colon… requiring the surgical removal of a part of her colon,” the lawsuit read.
The suit was dismissed in 2013.
Then on September 7, 2017, he was hit with another malpractice lawsuit when a stainless steel connecter and 29cm of tubing was allegedly left in the patient’s abdominal cavity after Laparoscopic surgery.
Dr. Nowzaradan denied the claims. The case remains ongoing.
