A week after Anna Gristina appeared in court facing charges of promoting prostitution, the now notorious Manhattan madam’s sidekick has handed herself into the authorities and is expected to be arraigned on Tuesday afternoon.
Jaynie Baker, 30, of Brooklyn, New York, was wanted by the District Attorney’s office since February 22 for allegedly helping the mother-of-four run a high class brothel in Manhattan’s Upper East Side, reported the New York Post.
As RadarOnline.com previously reported, Gristina, 44, appeared in Manhattan Supreme Court on March 6 where evidence of her alleged prostitution operation was presented to the judge, who ordered that she be held at Rikers on $2 million bond as prosecutors consider her to be an extreme flight risk.
Baker has been on the run ever since, but not before retaining defense lawyer Robert Gottlieb who has been negotiating her surrender and claims that she was vacationing in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, when news of the case broke last week.
Until recently, the pretty strawberry blonde was listed as a recruiter for a high-end matchmaking service called VIP Life, but founder Lisa Clampitt says Baker was a freelancer who never ended up referring a client.
Gristina was back in court on Monday for a hearing that her private detective Vincent Parco predicted to RadarOnline.com was going to be "a f***ing circus.”
During the proceedings, the judge postponed a decision on whether to release Gristina on $2 million bond secured by the TriBeCa loft her lawyer owns, and instead ordered everyone back to court Thursday to review the matter.
