The musical legend, who was found dead in her hotel suite at The Beverly Hilton on Saturday, was always a lady when it came to her sense of style. While most chart-topping beauties make it their prerogative to strip down for the stage into barely there costumes, Whitney always kept it classy and diva-delightful in gorgeous gowns and designer dresses that let her famous voice and natural beauty make the real statement. RadarOnline.com has photos of Whitney Houston’s 10 most iconic looks as part of our tribute to the late star.
A teen model, Houston met her mentor Clive Davis in 1983, and two years later released her first self-titled album. Wearing a peach-colored, one-shoulder Grecian-style dress with her hair super short on the cover, Houston’s look exemplified the classier side of the early 1980s.
But Houston wasn’t afraid of taking a style risk or standing out in a crowd! The next year, at the American Music Awards, Whitney showed off her inner diva, wearing a jaw-dropping black column dress, which featured a dramatic turquoise bow embellished in bling.
With her flawless face and powerful voice, Houston was always a show-stopper in simple silhouettes and classically cut black gowns, but she also rocked ripped jeans and tank tops like a true 1980s and 90s style icon.
In her later years, Houston’s style aged gracefully and appropriately demonstrated her diva status.
At the 17th annual Carousel of Hope Ball with Clive Davis, Whitney swept the red carpet in a dramatic one shoulder, form-fitting Giorgio Armani gown finished off with sparkling ice. A few years later, at the American Music Awards, she looked beyond beautiful in a white hot and sexy one-sleeved
Kaufman Franco column gown.
