Matt Lauer’s Ex-Wife Reveals He’s Cut Off Contact With Loved Ones

Matt Lauer’s first wife fears the disgraced Today host is isolating himself from those closest to him!

The former newsman, who was fired from NBC late last year over multiple sexual misconduct allegations has disappeared from the public eye since the news broke, and his ex, Nancy Alspaugh, told RadarOnline.com in an exclusive interview she hopes he will soon get back in touch.

“We have been close friends for years, and before it all came out he told me not to believe it,” Alspaugh, 62, told RadarOnline.com in an exclusive interview. “He’s keeping a very low profile.”

"This is his whole life, I’m sure he is devastated,” she added.

Alspaugh, who was married to the 60-year-old TV veteran from 1981 to 1988, said she was “shocked” that Lauer and his current wife Annette Roque are now navigating the divorce process.

Still, she remains supportive of her ex.

“I’m sure he’ll reach out to me, but I’m letting him have his private time,” said Alspaugh, noting she will not cut contact with him despite the scandal.

Lauer previously phoned Alspaugh to insist the sexual misconduct allegations against him were “fabricated” and she spoke out in his defense, believing he would never harass a woman.

"I never saw him as a power monger or somebody who would abuse his position in any way,” Alspaugh recently told

Entertainment Tonight about Lauer. “I want to get out the fact that he made a contribution to my nonprofit, that he helped me when my husband died.”

"The selfless, giving part of him, which people tend to forget whenever this kind of a situation comes up,” she continued. “He would give you the shirt off his back if you really needed it. He did that for everybody.”

Lauer, who has deleted all of his social media accounts, has rarely been seen out since NBC fired him, and sources say he now has “no intention” of returning to television.
