Back in February 2014 Demi Lovato gushed to E! News about her then best friend, Selena Gomez: “Selena and I have such an amazing friendship…and I love her to death.” What a difference six months makes. Asked to explain why she recently un-followed her pal on Twitter, Demi told Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live in August, “I think it’s just one of those things where people change and people grow apart.”

Remember the days when Rihanna and Katy Perry used to be all over each other like a rash? Some say the California girl and the Caribbean queen initially fell out over the “S&M” singer’s on-again, off-again relationship with Chris Brown who assaulted her back in 2009. Although they were snapped together in 2013, their friendship has never returned to its once heady heights.

For years these former Friends co-stars were inseparable. Then Chelsea Handler came along, snuggling up to Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox seemed to be left out in the cold. When Jennifer recently made comments about learning from her friends’ plastic surgery “mistakes, because I’m not injecting s**t into my face,” some speculated she was taking a jab at Courteney who has admitted to using Botox “very sparingly.”

In 2013 former BFFs Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton were photographed together for the first time in years since their 2005 falling out. What caused the former Simple Life co-stars to part ways nearly a decade ago remains a mystery. But back then Paris said: “Nicole knows what she did, and that’s all I’m ever going to say about it.” 

Before Kim Kardashian was Mrs. Kanye West and before her sex tape with Ray J was “leaked,” she was better known as being one of Paris Hilton’s best friends and the socialite’s assistant. We’re guessing their friendship had officially ended by the time Paris likened Kim’s rump to “cottage cheese inside a big trash bag” during a 2008 radio interview. 

Back in the 1990s they were pictured holding hands and double dating with their boyfriends buddies Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. But Gwyneth Paltrow and Winona Ryder allegedly fell out when – according to the Hollywood rumor mill – the Goop queen, allegedly, saw the script for Shakespeare In Love in the Beetlejuice star’s apartment and subsequently nabbed the lead role. Gwyneth won an Oscar, but apparently lost Winona’s friendship. 

Rumors have swirled for years about why Jennifer Lopez’s friendship with former BFF Eva Longoria cooled. There were allegations that the Desperate Housewife offered a shoulder to cry on to Marc Anthony when he split from J. Lo in 2011. But neither actress has spoken openly about why their friendship fell by the wayside.

Funnily enough Denise Richards’ friendship with Heather Locklear fell apart when she started dating the blonde’s then estranged husband Richie Sambora in 2006.

The end of these two TV stars’ friendship was an ongoing saga during their show, The Hills. But in a 2013 interview with E!, Heidi Montag revealed that – while she and Lauren Conrad are no longer best mates – they’ve recently spoken to each other. Heidi said: “It’s unfortunate things happened the way that it did, but we’re both different people now, older and more mature.”

They were recently pictured getting cozy again during dinner at a Malibu restaurant but for years former best friends Spencer Pratt and Brody Jenner were sworn enemies. In fact, during a 2010 radio interview Brody said of his former The Hills co-star, “I actually think he’s kind of lost it a little bit.”

It seems like another era now but when David and Victoria Beckham moved to Los Angeles back in 2007 Posh Spice and Katie Holmes were practically joined at the hip. The rumors about why their friendship came to an end have been endless since 2008. U.K. magazine Now alleges everything from arguments over Scientology to differing parenting styles as being the root cause.
