Dr. Dre’s ex-wife Nicole Young claims the music mogul and his team can’t find a copy of the prenuptial agreement they are trying to enforce in the $1 billion divorce battle.
According to court documents obtained by RadarOnline.com, Nicole is making the case for Dre to hand over $4 million to cover her attorney fees. She claims to have only $1 million in the bank with Dre still in control of his massive fortune.
Nicole filed for divorce from Dre in July 2020 after 24 years of marriage. She claims they had no prenup and believes she’s entitled to half of the estate.
Dre denies he didn’t have Nicole sign paperwork before the marriage which laid out who got what in the case of a split. He says the agreement was signed hours before their wedding in Maui, Hawaii on May 25, 1996.
In newly filed documents, Nicole reveals Dre and his team can’t seem to locate the original copy of the prenuptial agreement. She says, “Neither Andre nor anyone on his team had or has the original of the” agreement.
The news is a bombshell development in the nasty split. Nicole will argue without an original copy the prenup cannot be enforced.
As RadarOnline.com first reported, Nicole is demanding the court force Dre to pay her millions to cover the costs of fighting him in court. She needs $551k to cover her attorney fees from July 3, 2021 through September 30, 2021.
Nicole is also asking for an additional $3.5 million for prospective attorney fees from October 1, 2021 through the 3-week trial on the validity of their prenuptial agreement.
Her request also asks for $215k to cover the costs of her appellate attorney plus $100k to hire a forensic accountant to comb through Dre’s finances.
Nicole claims Dre has used his wealth to gain an unfair advantage in the divorce. “Andre — whose net worth is in the hundreds of millions —armed himself with a large, expensive team of attorneys from multiple firms specializing in multiple disciplines.”
“This massive legal team has relied upon heavy-handed and often bad faith litigation tactics to obstruct even the slightest forward movement in the case,” she explains.
Nicole says she is unemployed as she took care of their kids during the marriage. She is pleading for help from the court pointing out Dre has $240 million in cash sitting in a bank account.
A judge has yet to rule.
