'He Held Out His Arms For A Hug!' Megyn Kelly Reveals Awkward Trump Rendezvous
Megyn Kelly's new tell-all is tearing the lid off of her secret relationships with the biggest power players in media.
After RadarOnline.com revealed her claims that Fox News boss Roger Ailes tried to sexually assault her, we can now expose what she really thinks about President-Elect Donald Trump. Shockingly, it's pretty positive!
Kelly writes in her new book, Settle For More, that her relationship with her most public media rival was rocky before the notorious primary debate.
After the two faced off on air, she says, he invited her and her husband to Mar-a-Lago and offered her and two girlfriends a free stay at the Trump Soho hotel in New York. She declined both offers, claiming they were unethical.
Still, she admits in the book, she has always been something of an admirer.
"Trump knew what made good TV," she writes. "I remember the first time The Kelly File took a Trump campaign event and put it on the air. It was July 2015. Trump went down to the Mexican border and held a presser. It was riveting. It was one of the most compelling political events we had seen in years. And no news came out of it. It was just Trump being Trump: unscripted, unguarded and fun to watch."
After weeks of public disses, Kelly and Trump famously reached a detente and agreed to film an interview for Fox News. In the book, she reveals for the first time how it all went down.
"I reached out to him through two different people and asked for a meeting," she says. "It took place at Trump Tower."
And Megyn dressed carefully for the occasion, she says, in a black Gucci sheath dress with matching pumps. "When I walked into his office, Trump was sitting behind his desk, smiling," she recalls. "He got up immediately and came around to greet me. I moved in for a handshake, but he held out his arms for a hug, and the next thing I knew, we were hugging hello."

She adds, "It felt like a kind gesture on his part — an effort to say, if not 'I'm sorry,' perhaps 'Let's move on,' which was what I was there for."
Trump congratulated her on her feistiness, saying it made him "proud of you, in a certain way" and introduced her to his son, Eric.
"He called for Ivanka and Melania to come and meet me, but they weren't in the building. He did get Ivanka on the phone, and we had a lovely exchange. I like her a lot — she and his other children reflect well on Trump," she says.
