Megyn Kelly and Donald Trump are hashing out their differences in front of America!
The Fox News host appeared on Live with Kelly and Michael this week, and showed a never-before-seen-clip of her speaking with the New York-based billionaire about his campaign. It will air as part of her Megyn Kelly Presents special on Fox May 17.
"You seemed to stay angry for months. Was that real, or was that strategy?" Kelly asked Trump.
"Well I'm a real person," Trump said. "I don't say, 'Oh gee, I'm angry tonight, but tomorrow you're my best friend.'"
He then went on to say he had "great respect" for Kelly, since she was able to call him to initiate a conversation after their public spat. "I would not have done that," he admitted.
Kelly and Trump had been feuding since August, when the Fox News host confronted Trump for his comments about women. Since then, Kelly and Trump made amends during a secret meeting in the Trump Tower in April.
Kelly revealed to Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan that she waited until there was a "lull" in Trump's anger to ask him to speak in private.
"After months of him being very unhappy with me, I reached out to him," Kelly told the hosts. "I had always wanted to reach out to him from the beginning, from the August 6 debate, because I'm a journalist. I want to be on the sidelines. I don't want to be on the playing field. He kept putting me on the playing field and I just wanted to get past that. But he was so angry for so long, and I didn't want to reach out to him while he was angry."
Kelly described the morning she met Trump as "electric" and said that they had a "good exchange," but she did not discuss any of the specifics of the meeting.
Kelly's full interview with Trump will air May 17 on her debut episode of Megyn Kelly Presents.
