Divorce Heats Up: Giada De Laurentiis And Ex-Hubby Feuding Over Her Fortune — Because There Was No Pre-Nup!

Pint-size celebrity chef Giada De Laurentiis could be forced to pay up big time in her divorce from fashion designer Todd Thompson. RadarOnline.com has learned that the couple’s divorce is getting messy because the couple of 12 years did not sign a pre-nup.
“They are going over assets now,” a source told Radar. “But she is worth more than him, so she could lose out.”
The 44-year-old’s cooking career didn’t start sizzling until 2003, when The Food Network came calling – the same year she and Thompson tied the knot.
Since then, the brunette beauty has raked in at least $20 million hosting four acclaimed cooking shows, producing an Italian gourmet product line with Barilla and a line of kitchen supplies with Target, and, most recently, opening her first GIADA restaurant inside the Cromwell hotel in Las Vegas.
Ultimately, sources say the couple’s supposedly “amicable separation” could turn less than friendly when the final numbers are totaled.

After her husband filed divorce documents Dec. 30 citing irreconcilable diferences, speculation arose that the Italian chef cheated on Thompson in 2007 with Katy Perry’s on-again squeeze John Mayer – a report she was swift to deny.
She was also quick to respond to her ex’s petition to end their marriage with court documents of her own, indicating that she wants to keep her own possessions. According to the documents, she “believes she is possessed of separate property, the exact nature of which is unknown at this time.”
Like Thompson, De Laurentiis asked the court to grant joint physical and legal custody of their 6-year-old daughter, Jade. And although Thompson, 51, requested that he not be required to pay child support, De Laurentiis indicated she would be open to paying.
