A woman suspected of abandoning her 10-month-old daughter on a New York City subway platform was being held in Manhattan by police early Tuesday, after she was spotted by a citizen, after authorities distributed her image through the media.

According to cops, the 20-year-old woman, whose name wasn’t released, left the child at the Columbus Circle station in a stroller Monday afternoon, then re-boarded the subway via the No. 1 train.

A Good Samaritan saw the incident and contacted police after spending 20 minutes with the abandoned tot. The mother, who is not from New York, was pointed out by a citizen near West 72nd Street and Broadway. The woman — who told officials she felt she couldn’t continue caring for the baby — is the biological mother, police said.

The child was listed in stable condition at St. Luke's Hospital early Tuesday, and was in the custody of NYC Administration for Children's Services.

Police have not yet determined whether the woman will be charged in connection with the incident.
