Heartbreaking reality: Kailyn Lowry may have just turned 22, but the Teen Mom 2 standout and married mother of two young sons has already experienced a lifetime of trauma, poverty, violence — and, of course, relationship drama.

Teenage nightmare: In her new memoir, Pride Over Pity, Lowry revealed she was raped by a boyfriend at just 15 — and subsequently became pregnant. Though she wanted to keep the baby, her troubled mother, Suzi, encouraged her to get an abortion. “I swear they didn’t just suck out my uterus,” she explained in the book. “It felt as though they had taken every fiber of my being…I felt a mother’s grief.” Sadly, she was raped again by an acquaintance after the birth of her son Isaac, now 4.

That’s how desperately I wanted to be thin.”

While pregnant with son Isaac in 2009, Lowry claimed her baby daddy, Jo Rivera, betrayed her trust by hooking up with a Taco Bell coworker. “I was preparing to have a baby, and the father of my child was cheating on me,” she wrote in Pride Over Pity. “I felt duped, cheated and humiliated.”

She flew to Texas while pregnant with baby Isaac to meet him, but was ultimately heartbroken by her father’s indifferent attitude toward her life. “It’s safe to say I didn’t find what I was looking for,” she cried to Rivera’s mom Janet on the phone. She has not spoken to him since.

The MTV cameras didn’t catch Lowry’s son Isaac suffering a seizure just four months after his 2010 birth. “When you have kids, they become your world. So I just felt like, ‘Was it something I did? Was it something that could have been prevented?’” the star writes in Pride Over Pity. “It was so hard.” Fortunately, Isaac is now a healthy 4-year-old.

Though she was becoming a reality star, Lowry admitted she once spent a terrifying stint in a local Pennsylvania homeless shelter in order to qualify for a housing program. “Nobody knew what I was doing, not even MTV producers,” she wrote in her memoir. “And I hoped it would remain that way because I felt like utter shit.”

On a season 4 episode of Teen Mom 2, Lowry was caught on camera pushing Marroquin in a domestic dispute. “I’m going to f***ing knock him out!” she screamed on the March 2013 episode, after Marroquin neglected to take the dogs out. She then ran upstairs and shoved him with both arms. Lowry later apologized to fans for her behavior. “Even though Javi and I have moved on from it, I want to say I’m sorry again to him and his family for letting my emotions get the best of me,” she said. “I know how humiliating that is for them and I’m humiliated myself.”

In 2013, Lowry told fans she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, a condition marked by extreme mood swings. The star received the diagnosis during mental health treatment stemming from her violent fight with Marroquin.

Later that year, Lowry tweeted that she suffered from post-partum depression after her eldest son’s birth.  “I had a terribly hard time nursing Isaac,” she said. She was so nervous about reliving the depression after welcoming son Lincoln, she decided to encapsulate her placenta into pills, which experts say balance hormones and improve mood.

The reality star recounted the trauma of living with her boozy mother in her memoir. “I remember being dropped off at friends’ houses and sometimes not getting a phone call for what seemed like days,” she wrote.

Still acting violent: On the MTV hit’s season 5 finale, Lowry told Dr. Drew she had physically attacked husband Javi Marroquin after their infamous 2013 fight — as recently as the night before filming! “Have I pushed him? Yeah…I’ve smacked him in the face,” she admitted on the April 15, 2014 special.
