Famed civil rights attorney Gloria Allred will be in a Indio, California courtroom Friday as her client -- whose wife attempted to sever his genitals with a pair of scissors -- will testify at the start of the preliminary hearing in the case, RadarOnline.com is exclusively reporting.

As RadarOnline.com previously reported, Virginia Valdez allegedly attempted to cut off her husband's penis with a pair of large scissors Saturday evening. She failed to sever his genitals, however, and the 62-year-old man was treated for a non-life-threatening wound at a local hospital. Valdez is charged with mayhem, assault with a deadly weapon and felony domestic violence in the alleged attack, and was released on 100k bond. Under California domestic violence laws, the alleged victims names aren't being made public.

The preliminary hearing is scheduled to begin on Friday and Valdez's husband "will be taking the stand and testifying. The details that are going to come out will be shocking, and it's the first time that he will be speaking publicly about the incident," a source close to the case tells RadarOnline.com exclusively.

The couple had been married for 32 years, and at this time, the reason for the attack had been unclear.
