In a city where even dogs wear designer clothes and Burberry or Chanel leashes are a common sight during ‘yappy hour’ in Beverly Hills, it’s no surprise that an animal-loving designer has created a line of imitation Oscar gowns just for (wo)man’s best friend.
Stylish owners who dream of dressing their Chihuahua in Angelina Jolie’s leg-flashing Versace gown or any of the other fabulous fashions from the 2012 Academy Awards can get their wish thanks to Jennifer Basulto, who has created an entire collection of copy cat Oscar dresses for pampered pooches.
Along with The Tourist star’s controversial high side-split black dress, male dogs can slip into a dapper satin tuxedo and black bow tie for a hot date at the dog park.
There are currently six outfits in the collection and other inspirations for her canine couture include Emma Stone’s red Jean-Baptiste Grenouille dress with its giant neck bow, and My Week With Marilyn nominee Michelle Williams’ pink Louis Vuitton gown.

However, our favorite recreation is paws-down the military uniform worn by Sacha Baron Cohen’s character from his upcoming film, The Dictator, which comes complete with medals and a colorful sash.
All of the outfits in the range cost around $1,000 and are beautifully modeled on Basulto’s two Chihuahuas, Coco and Gigi on her website HautePuppy.com.
Dogs who can’t wait until next year’s Oscars to get their paws on a classy gown need not whimper, as the site has a wide range of special occasion outfits including wedding dresses.
