Friday was a beautiful sunny day in L.A. and the perfect back drop for 2011 NAACP Image Awards. In true Hollywood fashion celebrities came from all over to honor the achievements of people of color in all walks of life.
RadarOnline.com's Jessica Campbell was on hand to ask a temptingly taboo question. "With all the controversy and attention swirling around Charlie Sheen and Lindsay Lohan, do you think the situation would be different if this kind of controversy was surrounding a person of color?"
Julianne Malveaux smartly asserts, "How many passes has Charlie Sheen gotten? Do you think an African American man would get as many passes? Try one. The fact is race still matters. We know it matters."
"As a person of color we probably wouldn't get that much media attention plus I know a couple of guys like Charlie Sheen right now in Chicago," laughs film producer George Tillman Jr.
Vanessa Bell Calloway sassily expressed, "Their job would have been gone. We wouldn't be listening to Charlie's rants 'cause the first time he has a little whore, prostitute, whatever drug...the person would have been fired!"
