Despite getting pregnant in high school by an unemployed teen that spent his days endlessly playing video games, Megan McConnell from MTV's 16 And Pregnant has kept her hopes high and maintains a positive outlook on life.
In an exclusive interview with RadarOnline.com, the young mom discussed her new life with son Blake, the changes in her baby daddy Nathan, and her big plans for the future.
RadarOnline.com: Has your family become more accepting of the baby as time has passed?
Megan: Yes - everyone absolutely loves Blake and they can't stand being away from him.
RadarOnline.com: You stayed very positive about your pregnancy. Has it been difficult to keep up that spirit?
Megan: I'm still pretty positive about things. Sometimes it does get hard though.
RadarOnline.com: Is motherhood what you expected?
Megan: Not at all. It is a lot better than I thought it'd be.
RadarOnline.com: Has Nathan cut back on the video games and become more supportive?
Megan: Yes. He got a full time job as a cook, and he spends as much time as possible with Blake.
RadarOnline.com: Do you see a real future together?
Megan: Yes - if we stop getting mad about dumb things, then I can definitely see a future with Nathan.
RadarOnline.com: What has been the most difficult transition from teen to teen mother?
Megan: Giving up all my free time and having to put my son's needs before my own.
EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: 16 And Pregnant's Markai - 'My Story Is Intense!'
RadarOnline.com: What do you miss most about your old life?
Megan: Being able to just get up and go somewhere. It takes so long to get Blake ready to go out, and prepare his diaper bag, and strap him in to the car seat. I have to give myself an extra 20 minutes before going anywhere.
RadarOnline.com: Your mother has been so supportive. Does she play a main role in helping you now?
Megan: Yes - she always watches Blake for me while I work, and if I need help with anything, she always helps.
RadarOnline.com: How has becoming a mom affected you relationship with your high school friends?
Megan: I don't get to spend as much time with them as I used to, and I don't talk to many of them anymore. But there are a few friends who have stuck by my side, and they adore Blake, and don't mind if I have him with me while we hang out.
RadarOnline.com: You planned to go to college, how is that working out for you?
Megan: I haven't started yet, but I hope to take a Certified Nursing Assistant class in January.
RadarOnline.com: What is your baby doing these days?
Megan: He's been walking everywhere! And we're trying to teach him how to eat with silverware.
RadarOnline.com: Do you think you will have more children? If yes, how long do you feel you will wait?
Megan: I definitely want another child, but I want to wait until I'm 100% ready.
RadarOnline.com: What are your goals for the future?
Megan: In the future, I hope to be a neonatal nurse.
