Carrie Fisher‘s one-time boyfriend Bob Tur said she’s “done hiding” in her life as a man, and reveals that for more than a month, she’s been undergoing hormone replacement therapy to change from a male into a female named “Zoey.”
Tur, famous on her own merits of being an ace helicopter pilot-reporter in Los Angeles, wrote on her Facebook page, “Hi, my new name will be Zoey. Glad to have you as a friend. Thank you for your kind words.”
Tur, 53, tells CBS-LA she decided to begin the transformation after realizing she suffered from gender dysphoria as a male.
“You’re born with a female or feminized brain,” Tur said. “You think you’re a woman, but you’re a man.”
Tur said “mental changes have already happened” in 35 days of treatment, and she expects to look completely different in about four months.
“My body is changing, my skin is changing, hair is changing, and I’ll have a female shape,” she said. “Breasts start growing and I’ll lose body hair.
“Late on, about 12 months, there are another couple of surgeries — facial feminization surgery and sexual reassignment surgery.”
Tur, who has two children, says she’s in talks to get a reality show, as well. Her notable achievements as the eye in the sky include coverage of the Los Angeles riots in 1992, and O.J. Simpson’s Bronco chase two years later.
