A slew of celebrities died gruesome deaths this year.
From the suicides of fashion designer Kate Spade and TV chef Anthony Bourdain to the murder of rapper XXXTentacion, RadarOnline.com has covered all the tragic and bizarre passings.
2018 got off to a rough start when actor Jon Paul Steuer of Star Trek: The Next Generation died at age 33 on January 1, New Year's Day.
Steuer's self-inflicted gunshot suicide death made sad news.
There were numerous other bizarre deaths, including that of Vanessa Marquez, the actress who played nurse Wendy Goldman on the TV show ER. She was shot by police at the age of 49.
Austin Powers fans were saddened when beloved little person actor Verne Troyer finally succumbed to his demons.
And who could forget Glee hunk Mark Salling hanging himself as he awaiting sentencing on child porn charges?

On June 5, acclaimed handbag and accessories queen Kate Spade was found dead of a suicide by hanging. Spade, 55, was found dead in her Manhattan apartment. Authorities said she was found with a red scarf around her neck attached to a doorknob. Her sister said Kate had struggled with mental illness for years.
Bethenny Frankel's ex-boyfriend Dennis Shields, 51, who had appeared on her Bravo reality show The Real Housewives of New York, died on August 10 in his New York high rise home. The New York Post reported that the businessman had allegedly overdosed on prescription pills. Shields reportedly asked his assistant to administer Narcan, which treats opiate overdoses, when he realized his life was in danger. But it was too late. Frankel was devastated.
On June 8, the world was shocked to hear the news that Anthony Bourdain had taken his own life. The TV star of Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations on CNN was just 61. Bourdain had hanged himself with the belt from a bathrobe in his bathroom hotel in France, authorities revealed.
Cranberries singer Dolores O'Riordan's death on Jan. 15 was a mystery at first. Ultimately, coroners ruled that the 46-year-old rocker had died of drowning due to alcohol intoxication. Her body was had reportedly been found submerged inside her bathtub at London’s Park Lane Hilton hotel.
On January 30, troubled Glee star Mark Salling was found dead of a hanging suicide from a tree in a seedy area at age 35. Salling was due in court for sentencing on child porn charges on March 7. He was anticipating up to seven years in prison for his crimes, to which he pleaded guilty. Instead, he ended it all.
Joel Taylor, 38, of Storm Chasers died from an overdose combination of ecstasy overdose and tricyclic antidepressants, RadarOnline.com learned. His death happened aboard a cruise ship in Puerto Rico on Jan. 23.
Superman actress Margot Kidder had long had issues and on May 13, she killed herself at age 69. Kidder died from an intentional drug and alcohol overdose, according to a statement released by the Park County Coroner's Office in Montana and the star's family.
Rapper XXXTentacion was murdered on June 18. His fans were devastated to hear the news that the singer, 20, whose real name was Jahseh Onfroy, was fatally shot during a robbery outside Riva Motorsports in Pompano Beach, Florida. Four suspects were arrested and are currently awaiting trial.

The former star of MTV’s Road Rules, Brian Lancaster, died on March 29 at age 43 in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. The Chester County Coroner’s Office revealed in a statement to RadarOnline.com, “The cause of death was fentanyl, heroin and ethanol intoxication, with the manner of death being accidental.”
On August 30, Vanessa Marquez, who had starred on ER, was shot to death by police; she was only 49. RadarOnline.com learned that one of the things that prompted police to shoot was that Marquez, “armed herself” with what has now been identified as a BB gun when confronted by officers on the evening of her death.
2018 got off to a bad beginning with the untimely New Year's Day death of Star Trek: The Next Generation actor Jon Paul Steuer, 33. He began as a child star and had also appeared on Grace Under Fire. Steuer's passing was ruled a suicide from a gunshot wound to the head.
On April 20, famed DJ Avicii, 28, died of a suicide. The cause of death was reportedly due to self-inflicted injuries with a broken wine bottle, with Avicii eventually dying of blood loss.
Austin Powers star Verne Troyer died on April 21 at age 49 of alcohol intoxication. The medical examiner claimed the star suffered from “suicidal ideations,” “depression” and “chronic alcohol use” before taking his own life.
Frightened Rabbit singer, Scott Hutchison, was found dead on May 10 — one day after he went missing. The 36-year-old’s body was discovered at a marina on the banks of the Firth and Forth Bridge in port Edgar in Scotland.
On June 8, Jackson Odell, who had appeared in The Goldbergs TV show, died at age 20. As RadarOnline.com reported, he perished from a suspected heroin overdose at a sober living facility.
EJNYC reality star Lyric McHenry, 26, passed away from a cocaine and heroin overdose on August 14. The man arrested and charged in connection with McHenry's death’s death has pleaded not guilty of "concealment of a human corpse and tampering with physical evidence," RadarOnline.com exclusively learned.
Rapper and Ariana Grande's ex-boyfriend Mac Miller died of an accidental overdose at his home in Studio City, Calif., at age 26 on Sept. 7. Miller was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner said that, Miller had passed away from “mixed drug toxicity,” that included “fentanyl, cocaine and ethanol.” Grande was devastated and paid tribute to her former beau after his death.
