Amber Portwood Reveals Sister's Tragic Death: 'It's One Of The Worst Things I've Ever Seen'

Amber Portwood is dealing not only with a horrific bout of postpartum depression, but her traumatic past. In a clip from the Teen Mom OG Unseen Moments special, the new mom of baby James, 6 months, confessed that her baby sister died of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, or SIDS. "My sister died from SIDS when I was 5," she told producers in the shocking video. "She was an infant, just like him. And it's really scary for us." Portwood claimed her little sister's death made her much more cautious with her own children. When daughter Leah, 10, with ex Gary Shirley suffered sleep apnea, they rushed to the hospital. "We were so scared about it," she said.
When Teen Mom OG reunion host Nessa asked how she dealt with the tragedy, Portwood said, "It was hard."
"I remember watching them bringing her out on a stretcher…It's one of the worst things that I've ever really seen in my life," she added as baby daddy #2 Andrew Glennon comforted her.
In 2012, Portwood said her baby sister's name was Candace, and gave some more details on the shocking loss. "I remember my mom screaming, I remember her on the edge of the bed, I remember my dad," she told Dr. Drew.
"I was going to check on her, and picked her up and just realized that she wasn't breathing. She hemorrhaged from the nose," Portwood's mom Tanya said at the time.
Portwood also suffered a major loss when her father Shawn Sr. died in December 2014 after liver surgery.
Right now, the reality mom is coping with depression, and recently admitted she had suicidal thoughts. "I was going to hang myself," she said during the recent reunion.
