Hugh Hefner’s former girlfriends, The Shannon Twins, are spilling secrets from the years they lived at the Playboy mansion — including the no nail polish rule and the secret abortion one of them received.
Kristina and Karissa Shannon spoke to RadarOnline.com exclusively ahead of the upcoming A&E docuseries, Secrets of Playboy. The series features interviews with Hef’s former girlfriends, including Holly Madison, who reveal it wasn’t glamorous behind the scenes.
The Shannon Twins first submitted their photos to Playboy at the age of 17. The twins said they were flown out to California by Playboy. They believed it was to become centerfolds, but Hef asked them to move in.
Kristina and Karissa moved into the mansion in 2008 at the age of 18. They lived with Hef for 3 years before moving out.
They tell RadarOnline.com their time with Hef has caused them to experience severe PTSD and depression.
The twins tell us, “We have thought about committing suicide together, holding hands and taking pills to overdose.” They compare their time in the mansion to being locked in a cage.
The sisters say they were forced to sleep together and wear the same clothing. Hef had signs placed around the house with the rules each girl was expected to follow.
Kristina and Karissa tell us the list instructed them what to drink, what to wear, and how to act. “Hef is gone now. He’s dead but we still have PTSD and gained weight from dealing with our trauma.”
“We never did anything incestuous, but he made us both have sex with him at the same time all together. If we didn’t, we wouldn’t be allowed to stay. He didn’t put that pressure on us until after the first six months we were there.”
They claim they were given endless amounts of pills and alcohol while at the mansion. Hef reportedly blocked them from attending church because he was an atheist.
The twins tell RadarOnline.com, “We are completely ruined by him mentally.” They describe the 9pm curfew being strictly enforced and security guards making notes every time they left or entered the home.
Kristina and Karissa say they weren’t allowed to wear nail polish and were yelled at for trying to dress differently. “Over the years, we have ended up in the hospital from drinking and taking pills to numb the pain. We have been diagnosed with PTSD and manic depression. We had none of this before the Playboy mansion.”
“The candle in our soul is burned out.” Karissa also revealed she had to get an abortion at the mansion after getting pregnant.
She reveals a famous rapper — who RadarOnline.com has decided not to name — took “her secretly to get it done because we didn’t want anyone to know and he was a very trusted friend.”
Hef never found out about the abortion. The twins tell us they stayed at the mansion despite the horrific conditions due to them being under contract. They were filming Girls Next Door for E! and had other jobs booked.
The Shannon Twins tell us they feel abandoned by Playboy and are desperately trying to pull their lives together.
