A rep for the shattered country singer revealed in a statement to the media that the 3-year-old “died in a tragic drowning accident at home.”

As reported, Granger shared his personal pain on social media Thursday, June 6.

“We’ve lost our youngest son, River Kelly Smith,” Ganger posted on Facebook. “Following a tragic accident, and despite doctors’ best efforts, he was unable to be revived. Amber and I made the decision to say our last goodbyes and donate his organs so that other children will be given a second chance at life.”

Among those offering their condolences was Morgan Beck, professional beach volleyball player and wife of Olympic skier Bode Miller. As readers remember, their 19-month-old daughter, Emeline Grier Miller, lovingly known as Emmy, passed away nearly exactly a year ago, on June 10, after falling into a pool at a neighbor’s backyard party in Orange County, Calif.

“My heart breaks,” Morgan shared on Instagram, next to a picture of Granger and River. “Another baby gone too soon.”

Granger, who has already canceled his show in Kansas City Thursday night, had a message for fans.

“Love the ones close to you,” he shared. “There has never been a more difficult moment for us than this.”
