Granger Smith’s young son River drowned at his family’s home, RadarOnline.com has learned.
A rep for the shattered country singer revealed in a statement to the media that the 3-year-old “died in a tragic drowning accident at home.”
As RadarOnline.com reported, Granger shared his personal pain on social media Thursday, June 6.
“We’ve lost our youngest son, River Kelly Smith,” Ganger posted on Facebook. “Following a tragic accident, and despite doctors’ best efforts, he was unable to be revived. Amber and I made the decision to say our last goodbyes and donate his organs so that other children will be given a second chance at life.”
While he didn’t reveal any detail at the time, one of the last videos of the small boy, taken just days before his death, revealed a pond near the home, and the property was said to have a large pool. It’s not clear the exact location in which River died in.
The Williamson County Police Department did confirm to RadarOnline.com that their EMS and Fire Unit responded to a medical emergency call Wednesday night.
Among those offering their condolences was Morgan Beck, professional beach volleyball player and wife of Olympic skier Bode Miller. As RadarOnline.com readers remember, their 19-month-old daughter, Emeline Grier Miller, lovingly known as Emmy, passed away nearly exactly a year ago, on June 10, after falling into a pool at a neighbor’s backyard party in Orange County, Calif.
“My heart breaks,” Morgan shared on Instagram, next to a picture of Granger and River. “Another baby gone too soon.”
Granger, who has already canceled his show in Kansas City Thursday night, had a message for fans.
“Love the ones close to you,” he shared. “There has never been a more difficult moment for us than this.”
