Country music singer Granger Smith is mourning the sudden death of his 3-year-old son, River, who died in a “tragic accident" — and officials told RadarOnline.com exclusively medical services responded to a 911 call from the family's Georgetown, Texas home on Wednesday night.
The Williamson County Police Department told RadarOnline.com that their EMS and Fire Unit responded to a medical emergency call on June 5.
Tragically, the little boy could not be saved, Ganger announced on Thursday.
“We’ve lost our youngest son, River Kelly Smith,” Ganger posted on Facebook. "Following a tragic accident, and despite doctors' best efforts, he was unable to be revived. Amber and I made the decision to say our last goodbyes and donate his organs so that other children will be given a second chance at life.”
Granger didn’t reveal exactly what happened to his son. His wife, Amber, copied his post on her Instagram account, sharing a photo of her and the little boy together.
”Riv was special. Everyone that met him knew that immediately. The joy he brought to our lives cannot be expressed and his light will be forever in our hearts,” she posted. “If there are words to say more, I cannot find them in this moment.”
Granger, who has already canceled his show in Kansas City Thursday night, had a message for fans.
“Love the ones close to you,” he shared. “There has never been a more difficult moment for us than this.”
