Meghan Markle had eyes for another hunk, just months before she met Prince Harry!

As RadarOnline.com has learned, the former Hollywood star slid into X Factor winner Matt Cardle’s Instagram direct messages after he followed her!

“Matt followed Meghan initially in early 2015 because he thought she was a beautiful star from Suits,” a source told The Sun. “But he was stunned when she followed him immediately back and started messaging him. She said she was a big fan of his work.”

Their flirty conversation went on for a couple days, but when Meghan, 37, suggested they take their romance a step further, Matt, 36, backed off and left her on “read!”

“Matt couldn’t believe a Hollywood star like Meghan would even know who he was so he was very flattered and they chatted a little bit online before she suggested meeting up,” said the insider. “But then he met his girlfriend and knew it wasn’t appropriate to keep talking to Meghan so he ended up ghosting her.”

The source said Matt felt like he could have had a connection with Meghan, but he was more interested in Amber Hernaman, whom he’s still dating.

“He did exchange messages with Meghan before his relationship with Amber got serious,” said an insider close to him.

Meghan finalized her divorce from first husband Trevor Engelson in 2013 and went public with Harry, 34, in June 2016. The two married in 2018 and welcomed their first child, son Archie, earlier this month.
