Vanderpump Rules star Stassi Schroeder dropped a bombshell about her secret Scientology membership in her upcoming tell-all book, RadarOnline.com can exclusively report.
Next Level Basic: The Definitive Basic Bitch Handbook, out April 16, offers advice including take an extra pair of panties on a date — but the juicy read also reveals her bizarre experience with an unnamed alleged Tom Cruise mentor and "aliens" in the controversial church.
"My closest run-in with an actual cult was Jax Taylor's fault," the Bravolebrity wrote about her ex-boyfriend and current costar.
Stassi, now 30, said she was 22 and had just moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career, and Jax was working as a model when he told her he filmed a commercial for Scientology.
"I talked to them about you, and they want us to come in and consider Scientology," Stassi said her then-boyfriend told her.
She claimed she was hysterical with laughter.
"I was like, 'Dude, are we talking about the science fiction, L. Ron Hubbard, alien movie, Tom-Cruise-couch-jumping religion?' He said yes." she wrote. "Jax was never the sharpest tool in the shed. I told him he was out of his freaking mind."
But she revealed they decided to check it out anyway.
"When we went to the Scientology center we met with Tom Cruise's mentor. The guy threw out Tom Cruise's name like four hundred million times to make sure we knew who we were dealing with," she said about her visit to the church where Cruise is the most high-profile member, along with John Travolta and Kirstie Alley.
"After our weird-a** office visit, he walked us around the building and everyone we saw was in the happiest mood. It was . . . like a cult."
Despite the supposed red flags, Stassi said they remained at the center — and the visit continued to grow even more bizarre.
"Then Tom Cruise's mentor said Jax and I were going to be separated, and he took me into a room alone to watch a video that involved a kid eating a boiled egg and then witnessing a car accident," she continued.
After watching the strange Scientology video, she was talked into joining Cruise's religion.
"Tom Cruise's mentor convinced us to pay $100 (each!) for a textbook, and then took us to 'class,' which was a room full of people of all ages, all sitting silently with their $100 textbooks."
She claimed she was forbidden from eating or drinking for "several hours" before a class, which was a problem for the boozy star, who wanted to drink vodka the night before.
The final straw was when a "creepy" teacher told Jax to "communicate with the aliens," and the former couple decided to cut all ties to the church.
Stassi boasted she still has her text book and membership card because "it's like a collector's item."
Now, instead of hanging out with Scientology's biggest stars, Schroeder is still hanging around Lisa Vanderpump's hard-partying crew.
