A plastic surgery clinic has been exposed for having an unusually high number of patient deaths and injuries.

According to a joint report by USA Today and the Naples Daily News, eight people have died at a Miami, Florida clinic in a strip mall and an affiliated facility nearby.

Dr. Ismael Labrador allegedly has overseen the operation, which has been run like an assembly line and has often changed its names.

Individual doctors – many with little specialized training – line up patients and operate on as many as eight a day, the newspapers' investigation has revealed.

The report has noted that people travel from across the country and around the world for cheap plastic surgery, getting thousands of dollars off and going on payment plans.

In the past six years, the Miami clinic and a nearby facility overseen by the same doctor have lost eight patients, a state of affairs not seen anywhere else in Florida.

The shocking media expose has proven that the two sites account for about 1 of every 5 plastic surgery deaths in the entire state.

Also, nearly a dozen other patients were left with critical complications, including three with punctured internal organs that forced them to rush to hospitals for help, medical reports and other records show.

Dr. Labrador has defended his business to reporters, claiming that all the doctors he hired had met the requirements of the state licensing board.

"I am not the one who makes the decision whether the doctor is ready or legally and professionally able and capable to operate," he wrote.

"The surgeons ultimately approve and make decisions concerning their schedule, how many and what kind of procedures will be performed by them each day."

According to the joint newspaper article, four of the women died after their doctors mistakenly injected body fat deep in their muscles and tore the veins during a popular surgery known as the Brazilian butt lift. The fat pooled in their hearts and lungs, killing them in minutes.

A mother from Georgia's small intestine was perforated three times during her cosmetic procedure and human waste spilled into her body.

Seven o the women who died were working-class Hispanics and African Americans, the report said.

Although the names of the clinics have been changed three times, Dr. Labrador, 56, has been in charge the entire time, USA Today and Naples Daily News has claimed.

He was previously suspended from his medical practice for allowing unlicensed workers to perform cosmetic procedures, and is known for targeting advertising to women looking to change their bodies.

As RadarOnline.com readers know, there have been scary cases of botched plastic surgery, but many have occurred outside of the United States.

Dallas, Texas realtor Laura Avila died recently after a botched nose job in Mexico.

He said all the doctors he hired met requirements of the state licensing board.

"I am not the one who makes the decision whether the doctor is ready or legally and professionally able and capable to operate," he wrote.
