Broke Housewife! New ‘RHONY’ Star Barbara Kavovit Filed For $1 Million Bankruptcy

Barbara Kavovit’s Real Housewives of New York paychecks could help her pay off her debt! RadarOnline.com can exclusively reveal Carole Radziwill’s replacement filed for bankruptcy in 2015.

Kavovit filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy on March 16, 2015, owing $1,178,350 to creditors.

The Evergreen Construction CEO owed $63,000 for income taxes, including penalties and interest.

She racked up $25,000 in American Express credit card debt.

She also owed $86,000 in unpaid rent.

But her debts didn’t end there, as she also failed to pay a whopping $747,900 in legal fees.

Kavovit’s monthly income at the time was $20,000. She had monthly expenses of $12,670.

The entreprenuer filed a notice of appeal on February 8, 2018 and the case was transferred to the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.

On January 15, 2016, Pryor Cashman, who was a creditor of Kavovit, filed a lawsuit against her for determination of non-dischargeability of debts, denial of entitlement to discharge and declaratory judgment.

In Kavovit’s bankruptcy filing, she listed Cashman as a creditor holding an unsecured claim in the amount of $673,000.

Cashman claimed he began rendering legal services to Kavovit in 2002. He terminated services because of her “habitual non-payment of Pryor Cashman’s invoices for fees and disbursements.”

“Pryor Cashman’s outstanding invoices to Kavovit covered $441,581.20 in legal services and $36,106.99 in disbursements, for a total of $477,688.19,” the complaint read. “Although Kavovit paid $54,524.91 toward certain invoices, the balance of Pryor Cashman’s bills was not paid.”

Cashman sued her in May 2009 to recover the unpaid legal fees. After a three-day bench trial, Kavovit was found liable to Cashmen for the amount of $420,145.43 plus interest, costs and disbursements, for a grand total of $673,247.88.

Kavovit “failed and refused to make any payment to Pryor Cashman.”

He served her with an Information Subpoena and a Restraining Notice.

“The Information Subpoena directed that Kavovit timely provide various information covering 36 months preceding the service of the Information Subpoena,” the filing read. “Kavovit responded to all of the foregoing requests and specifications for information either with a single word “none” or by referring Pryor Cashman to her tax returns from 2010, 2011 and 2012.”

He claimed she produced no documents requested by the specifications of those subpoenas.

Pryor asked for the court to hold Kavovit in contempt and to be awarded a judgment in his favor against Kavovit. He also asked that Kavovit not be entitled to receive a discharge of the bankruptcy.

In Kavovit’s answer to the complaint, she demanded the complaint be dismissed. The case remains ongoing.

Kavovit has been spotted filming with Luann de Lesseps, Sonja Morgan, Bethenny Frankel and Ramona Singer following the departure of Radziwill.

Us Weekly reported she is joining the cast and is being considered for the full-time cast member role.

She appeared on a season 9 episode when she was heard speaking poorly about de Lesseps’ then-fiancé – and now ex-husband – Tom D’Agostino Jr.

“She’d rather go through with it and get divorce than call it off,” she was heard saying.
