Anthony Bourdain hanged himself with the belt from a bathrobe, French police have revealed, and the suicide happened in the celebrity chef's small hotel room bathroom. Late Friday, authorities revealed the grisly new details about Bourdain's shocking demise at age 61 in France, as the Daily Mail reported.

The Parts Unknown star was found unresponsive on June 8 in the bathroom of his room at Le Chambard hotel in Kayserberg by a close friend, Éric Ripert.

Bourdain had gone to France to film scenes for his CNN food travel show.

Results from Bourdain's toxicology exam are underway to determine if he had any traces of alcohol or other substances in his system at the time.  Bourdain had admitted he was a recovered heroin addict. On Friday, French cops also said they're confident his death was a suicide and that "there is no element that makes us suspect that someone came into the room at any moment."

Prosecutor Christian de Rocquigny said there were no signs of violence on his body. As RadarOnline.com has reported, Bourdain's girlfriend Asia Argento, 42, said she was "beyond devastated" by his unexpected death.

Celebrities around the world said they were stunned and saddened by the globe-trotting food expert killing himself.

"There have been times, honestly, in my life that I figured, I’ve had a good run - why not just do this stupid thing, this selfish thing… jump off a cliff into water of indeterminate depth,"' Bourdain once said about a stunt he did for his former Travel Channel show, No Reservations.
