‘My 600-Lb Life’ Doctor Accused Of Causing Patient’s Death In Explosive Lawsuit

Dr. Younan Nowzaradan was slapped with yet another medical malpractice lawsuit, in which he was accused of causing a former patient’s death. RadarOnline.com can exclusively reveal the My 600-Lb Life doctor was sued for allegedly failing to properly treat the late patient’s condition.

In court papers obtained from Harris County in Texas, the deceased patient’s wife sued Dr. Nowzaradan and University General Hospital on November 21, 2012.

The plaintiff claimed Dr. Nowzaradan treated her husband in September 2010 up until his death in March 2011.

She claimed the defendants, “failed to adequately assess or recognize the extent of the deceased’s condition and his need for appropriate treatment of a chronic condition, and in failing to take other standard precautions that would avoid or minimize the chances of persistence or aggravation of his condition, leading to his death without the appropriate diagnosis and follow-up treatment.”

The plaintiff alleged that the defendants failed to take “reasonable and standard” pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative measures to prevent complications from surgery.

She continued, “Defendants failed to advise the plaintiffs of the full extent and significance of his condition and the need for immediate testing to rule out various diagnoses, or if those diagnoses proved correct, to implement immediate follow-up treatment.”

She claimed the defendants were "negligent" in treating her husband, which "proximately caused the death of the defendant.”

In Dr. Nowzaradan’s response to the petition, he denied the allegations against him and demanded the plaintiff provide proof of her claims.

The plaintiff filed a notice of non-suit on March 21, 2013, which means she requested to have the case dismissed. The case was closed on April 22, 2013.

As RadarOnline.com previously reported, Dr. Nowzaradan was sued for malpractice in 2012. A former patient claimed a 6.69 inch piece of tubing was left in the body for 22 months after gastric sleeve surgery.

The suit was dismissed in 2013.

On June 14, 2017, former patient sued Dr. Nowzaradan and St. Joseph Medical Center for personal injury after she claimed her abdominoplasty and procedure to have an umbilical hernia removed left her stomach “deformed.”

“The plaintiff no longer has a navel, as a result of the procedure,” the petition read. “The plaintiff’s abdomen is deformed. The plaintiff continues to have severe lower abdominal pain and has developed distention of the abdomen. The plaintiff experiences extreme pain in her abdomen that restricts normal movement.”

The case was dismissed.

Then on September 7, 2017, he was slapped with another malpractice lawsuit when a stainless steel connecter and 29cm of tubing was allegedly left in the patient’s abdominal cavity after Laparoscopic surgery.
