The news of Kody Brown's secret split from his wife Meri has rocked Sister Wives fans. But behind the scenes, RadarOnline.com has learned, the family has been rocked by the move as well — and have gone into lockdown mode over what it means for the future of the family and the show.

Kody's mom, Genielle Brown, told RadarOnline.com exclusively that Kody had told her about the split. Declining to reveal why he made the change, she insisted, "I've been sworn to secrecy by my son."

The couple filed jointly on September 12, 2014, and the divorce was official just two weeks after that.

Kody was technically a single man for the next few months, but on December 5, 2014, he applied for a wedding license with Robyn, 37, his fourth and newest wife, who joined the family in May 2010.

None of the wives have spoken publicly about the news, but Robyn hinted at family tensions in a tweet last month. "It is always tough giving up the ideal of what a plural family means to you," she tweeted. "We always want to be a united family."
