Sherri Shepherd, confirming reports first broken by RadarOnline.com, announced her forthcoming foray onto Great White Way, as the departing TV personality of The View fame is set to begin a stint in the Broadway production of Douglas Carter Beane’s Cinderella adaptation.

The 30 Rock star, 48, said on the show that she will play the role of the wicked stepmother in the production; charismatic reality star NeNe Leakes was also in the running for a major part.

A source told us last month that “both ladies” coveted a prominent spot, and had “already auditioned” for the production; the source also correctly mentioned Keke Palmer as the lead in the musical, which Shepherd confirmed on The View.

As we previously reported, the multi-talented Chicago native’s tense battle with her estranged husband Lamar Sally took another turn Tuesday, as a surrogate mother the pair had chosen delivered a baby boy in Pennsylvania, with Sally present for the birth.

The Guess Who star has distanced herself from the situation, claiming that Sally wasn’t straight with her regarding the terms of the surrogacy, intending to cash in by suing her for child support.

Shepherd, whose films credits include Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire and Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, takes the stage for the first time on Sept. 9 at the Broadway Theatre.
