Melissa Rivers said that her mother, Joan, was “resting comfortably” in a New York hospital after she suffered complications during throat surgery on Thursday— but the legendary comedienne doesn’t seem to be in the clear just yet.
According to the New York Daily News, the outspoken Fashion Police hostess’ “distraught” only child, 46, could soon face a life-or-death decision after doctors give an update about the comatose 81-year-old’s condition.
Melissa “was an emotional wreck” on Friday, a source tells the newspaper.
If the Emmy-winning entertainer “can’t recover and live a full and active life, she would rather be gone,” a friend insisted to the Daily News. “She would never want to be a burden on anyone.”
Just hours after performing a stand-up special in New York, the star suddenly stopped breathing during a routine vocal chord procedure at a New York clinic. Now in stable condition, she is allegedly in a medically-induced coma at New York’s Mount Sinai hospital.
Melissa and her son Cooper, 13, rushed from L.A. to be by Joan’s side.
