Former View star, Debbie Matenopoulos, wants Ivanka Trump and Arianna Huffington to be named as new co-hosts of the ABC chat fest, and also wants to come back to the job she once had, RadarOnline.com is exclusively reporting.
Matenopoulos told RadarOnline.com exclusively in a statement that, "I'm older, stronger, wiser and smarter and would love to come back to The View. Ivanka Trump and Arianna Huffington would be great co-hosts for The View. Both ladies would bring their intelligence to the show. It would be a perfect balance with Whoopi Goldberg and Rosie O'Donnell."
Season 18 of The View will premiere on September 18, but there is already trouble behind the scenes between Goldberg and O'Donnell.
Co-hosts Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy were forced out after a significant ratings decline.
Goldberg has sat in the prized moderator seat since taking over for O’Donnell, and now “Rosie wants it back from Whoopi,” an insider told RadarOnline.com. “It doesn’t matter to Rosie that Whoopi has sat there for the last several years. Rosie doesn’t want to be sitting anywhere but back in her old spot.”
“In Rosie’s mind, this is once again her show,” the source continued. “Whoopi won’t be giving it up, and Rosie even suggested they trade seats every other week. It’s all a power trip for Rosie, which is resulting in tension on the staff.”
Matenopoulos was on The View from 1997-1999, when she was abruptly fired, and replaced by Lisa Ling. She has been back on the talk show several times as a guest and a co-host.
