With the Los Angeles Lakers' season in the toilet, and valuable cog Pau Gasol heavily rumored to be traded, RadarOnline.com has learned exclusively that Lamar Odom is hoping to take the forward's place as a step toward revitalizing his stagnant career.
"Lamar is hoping that Pau Gasol because that would create an opening on the Lakers," a source told Radar. "The team would need someone of Lamar's height to replace Pau."
While the former Laker and Clipper has agreed to a pact with Spain's Laboral Kutxa, the source said Odom, 34, "does have an out in his contract with the Spanish team he is playing for," and "his agent has been in touch with the Lakers, letting the organization know he would be on the next plane back in order to join the team."
Asked about his chances of being moved by Thursday's NBA trading deadline, a weary Gasol shucked off the constant barrage of rumored trade destinations as fodder to "fill up a lot of pages and f**king airtime," adding the chance of being dealt is "something that's there, and there's potential that it might happen."
With the injured Kobe Bryant limited to just six games this season, the Lakers have limped to an awful 18-36 record.
