Little Monsters rejoice! Your brave leader is healing.
Lady Gaga kept her fans updated prior to, and after, undergoing hip surgery Wednesday to fix a labral tear of her right hip that forced her to cancel the remaining dates on her Born This Way Ball tour earlier this month.
"Going in for surgery now," she began the stressful day tweeting. "Thank you so much for sending me love and support. I will be dreaming of you."
Afterwards, she wrote on the Little Monsters site, "Monsters, You really gave me a lot of strength today. Everything happened so fast, but when it came time to face it I reflected on the many stories and experiences you've shared with me about your lives.
"Meeting you backstage, reading your letters, watching you communicate with fans from around the globe to form a community that supports one another -- You have completely blown my mind."
The Just Dance singer, 26, said that as she was being wheeled into surgery, she "thought about her fans' pain and perseverance … unique family situations, school environments, health issues, homelessness, identity struggles -- sometimes you are so brave that it terrifies me. I wonder how it's even possible."
She continued, "So I thought to myself, I'm alive, I'm living my dream, and this is just a bump in the road. I'm grateful because this is temporary, and for some it is not.
She thanked her fans at the end, telling them, "I love you and am proud to be a part of your lives.
"If you can do it, I can do it too," she wrote, "and if we stick together we can get through anything."
Last week, Gaga opened up about her injury, saying she's been suffering from an inflammation of joints called synovitis. Live Nation subsequently canceled the rest of her tour, saying those with tickets can get refunds at the place they purchased them.
