Talk about having regrets!
Facts of Life star Lisa Whelchel secretly got divorced from her husband of 24 years and in a new interview she dropped the bombshell news that if she had to do it all over again she would NOT make the same decision to marry him.
The 49-year-old actress opened up about the loveless marriage she said she was in on the Jeff Probst Show and revealed that if she could do her life over again she would not marry Steven Cauble.
“I would not make the same decisions now as I did then. Because I have changed and I have grown and I realized if I’m listening to God I can listen to my heart. And God is going to speak to me through my heart,” she said.
Lisa said she was listening to a higher power, telling Jeff: "I would rather trust God over my heart," about her emotions that told her not to tie the knot, and she admitted that she was unhappy for a long time.
"I had to shut my heart off more and more in order to stay."
Now a mother of three beautiful children, Lisa was married at age 25 when her father hand-picked Steven, who was a much older associate pastor at their church. She shot to fame playing Blair Warner on the 80s TV show The Facts of Life.
Lisa told Jeff why she didn’t leave her husband for more than two decades, despite being unhappy.
"I stayed because I had made a commitment, I stayed for my children. I stayed for…I thought it was the right thing to do," she said.
However, she said that if she could do things over, she would not have married a man she didn’t love.
Lisa is competing on Survivor: Philippines this season, which airs on CBS at 8 p.m. EST.
