Piers Morgan Calls Congressman Todd Akin 'A Gutless Little Twerp'
Aug. 21 2012, Published 3:00 p.m. ET
Hell hath no fury like a talk show host scorned.
Congressman Todd Akin was supposed to address his controversial comments about "legitimate rape" on Monday's Piers Morgan Tonight, but didn't make it in, spurring the dry Brit to float some fighting words toward the loose-lipped Missouri politician.
"We booked Congressman Akin to tell his story himself. We kept our word. I'm here. But Rex Elsass, who's the political consultant to Congressman Todd Akin did not keep his," Piers said. "He pulled the interview, having agreed it on his behalf, at the last possible moment, leaving us and you looking at an empty chair.
"It's a very nice empty chair, but it remains an empty chair."

Piers then roasted his absentee guest, who faces pressure within his own party to remain in the senatorial race against Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill.
"Congressman, you have an open invitation to join me in that chair whenever you feel up to it. Because if you don't keep your promise to appear on the show, then you are what we would call in Britain, 'A gutless little twerp.'"
