As Hollywood stars, mayors and corporations distance themselves from Chick-Fil-A following the company’s admitted anti-gay marriage stance, TLC’s 19 Kids and Counting stars Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s oldest son Josh is weighing in on the subject and supporting the controversial company.
Chick-Fil-A CEO Dan Cathy recently told Baptist Press, “We are very much supportive of the family — the biblical definition of the family unit,” which angered gay marriage supporters and caused a backlash against the company. Now former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee is heading up a day of support for the restaurant on August 1 and Josh Duggar Tweeted his endorsement for the event.
“I'm joining @GovMikeHuckabee & @RickSantorum to support @ChickFilA on Aug 1. Stand with us! #ChickFilA,” Josh wrote.
The conservative Christian family has been vocal about their support for former candidate Rick Santorum, and even went on the campaign trail for him.
Josh also defended himself in a previous Tweet, writing that even though he supports Chick-Fil-A he doesn’t discriminate against people himself.
“I treat everyone with honor, dignity & respect - regardless of belief, race, creed, sexual orientation or gender & I stand with #ChickFilA!” Josh wrote.
